Pecan Slice

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup golden syrup
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350*.
  • 2 grease an 8 inch square pan.
  • 3 base.
  • 4 sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
  • 5 cream butter and blend in flour to make a soft dough.
  • 6 spread dough evenly over the base of greased pan.
  • 7 bake for 15 minutes.
  • 8 topping.
  • 9 in a small saucepan over low heat, melt butter.
  • 10 remove from heat and stir in syrup, brown sugar, beaten egg, vanilla and flour.
  • 11 spread pecans evenly over base.
  • 12 pour topping over pecans.
  • 13 bake an additional 20-25 minutes until topping is set and lightly browned.
  • 14 cool in pan.
  • 15 when cool, cut into squares.
