Grandma's Norwegian Kringla

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 cup sugar or 1 cup splenda sugar substitute
  • butter (the size of an egg)
  • 2 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (add a cap of vinegar to you milk and let it sit 1/2 hour in frig)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash nutmeg

Recipe

  • 1 cream butter and sugar. add egg yolks and vanilla. put the soda in the sour milk and sour cream. add to the egg mixture. add the sifted dry ingredients.
  • 2 chill well. roll in long rolls and form into bows or pretzel shapes.
  • 3 bake in a hot oven, 450 degrees, until light brown or paler if you like.
