Ginger Creams

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup shortening, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Recipe
- 1 beat shortning and sugar until smooth.
- 2 beat in egg and molasses well.
- 3 mix hot water and soda.
- 4 sift dry ingredients together.
- 5 add to creamed mixture alternately with soda water.
- 6 chill for 2 hours.
- 7 drop by tsp 2 inches apart on greased sheet.
- 8 bake at 375* for about 8 minutes, until lightly browned.
