Ginger Creams

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 12 mins Cook Time: 8 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup shortening, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Recipe

  • 1 beat shortning and sugar until smooth.
  • 2 beat in egg and molasses well.
  • 3 mix hot water and soda.
  • 4 sift dry ingredients together.
  • 5 add to creamed mixture alternately with soda water.
  • 6 chill for 2 hours.
  • 7 drop by tsp 2 inches apart on greased sheet.
  • 8 bake at 375* for about 8 minutes, until lightly browned.
