Marbled Brownies

Ingredients

- 1 (18 ounce) package duncan hines brownie mix (whichever you prefer)
- 2 (3 ounce) packages cream cheese
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Recipe
- 1 for browines: preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- 2 soften cream cheese and butter; beat together.
- 3 add sugar, eggs, flour, and vanilla; beat until smooth and set aside.
- 4 mix cakelike brownies as directed on package.
- 5 pour half the brownie mixture into a greased 13x9 pan; pour all the cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer.
- 6 spoon remaining brownie batter in spots over the top.
- 7 swirl the two mixtures together with a knife or spatula (don't get carried away here) bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until done.
- 8 cool.
- 9 for frosting: melt butter in a medium saucepan.
- 10 stir in cocoa until dissolved.
- 11 remove from heat.
- 12 add confectioners sugar, milk and vanilla.
- 13 stir until smooth.
- 14 add more milk if needed for a soft spreading consistency.
- 15 frost brownies.
- 16 let sit until frosting is firm, then cut into squares.
