Old-fashioned Raisin-filled Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups raisins, chopped
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Recipe

  • 2 cook raisins with sugar and water for 10 to 15 minutes, or until thick, stirring occasionally.
