Perfectly Peppermint Brownies

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup cocoa, hershey's
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2/3 cup butter, melted and divided (or margarine)
- 1/2 cup water, boiling
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/3 cups peppermint patties, mint, york
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- 2 grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan.
- 3 stir together cocoa and baking soda in large bowl.
- 4 stir in 1/3 cup of the melted butter.
- 5 add boiling water and stir until the mixture thickens.
- 6 stir in sugar, eggs and remaining 1/3 cup of the melted butter; stir until smooth.
- 7 add flour, vanilla and salt; blend completely.
- 8 stir in peppermint patties.
- 9 spread in prepared pan.
- 10 bake 35-40 minutes or until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
- 11 cool completely in pan on wire rack.
- 12 cut into bars.
