Peanut Chocolate Whirls

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Recipe
- 1 in a mixing bowl, cream shortening, peanut butter and sugar.
- 2 add egg, milk and vanilla.
- 3 combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture.
- 4 turn onto lightly floured surface; roll into a 16 inch by 12 inch rectangle.
- 5 melt chocolate chips; cool slightly.
- 6 spread over dough to within 1/2 inch of edges.
- 7 tightly roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a long side.
- 8 wrap in plastic wrap; refrigerate for up to 30 minutes.
- 9 unwrap and cut into 1/4 inch slices.
- 10 place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
- 11 bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.
- 12 remove to wire racks to cool.
