Peanut Chocolate Whirls

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 45 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Recipe

  • 1 in a mixing bowl, cream shortening, peanut butter and sugar.
  • 2 add egg, milk and vanilla.
  • 3 combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture.
  • 4 turn onto lightly floured surface; roll into a 16 inch by 12 inch rectangle.
  • 5 melt chocolate chips; cool slightly.
  • 6 spread over dough to within 1/2 inch of edges.
  • 7 tightly roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a long side.
  • 8 wrap in plastic wrap; refrigerate for up to 30 minutes.
  • 9 unwrap and cut into 1/4 inch slices.
  • 10 place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • 11 bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • 12 remove to wire racks to cool.
