Marbled Brownies

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 1 (18 ounce) package duncan hines brownie mix (whichever you prefer)
  • 2 (3 ounce) packages cream cheese
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe

  • 1 for browines: preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 soften cream cheese and butter; beat together.
  • 3 add sugar, eggs, flour, and vanilla; beat until smooth and set aside.
  • 4 mix cakelike brownies as directed on package.
  • 5 pour half the brownie mixture into a greased 13x9 pan; pour all the cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer.
  • 6 spoon remaining brownie batter in spots over the top.
  • 7 swirl the two mixtures together with a knife or spatula (don't get carried away here) bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until done.
  • 8 cool.
  • 9 for frosting: melt butter in a medium saucepan.
  • 10 stir in cocoa until dissolved.
  • 11 remove from heat.
  • 12 add confectioners sugar, milk and vanilla.
  • 13 stir until smooth.
  • 14 add more milk if needed for a soft spreading consistency.
  • 15 frost brownies.
  • 16 let sit until frosting is firm, then cut into squares.
