Melt In Your Mouth Butter Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
• 2 1/2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 cup margarine
• 2 cups icing sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 1/2-2 tablespoons milk
• 3 drops food coloring (optional)

Recipe

• 1 cream butter or margarine (and yes margarine does work beautifully! i can see some people raising their eyebrows!) with sugar.
• 2 add eggs and vanilla and mix.
• 3 add flour, baking powder and salt and mix well.
• 4 at this point you can either roll out and cut with cookie cutters or roll dough into 1 inch balls and flatten on cookie sheet.
• 5 bake at 375f for 6 to 8 minutes until set, not brown.
• 6 mix icing ingredients together and ice cookies once cooled.
