Nana's Soft Gingersnap Cookies

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup crystallized ginger, chopped coarsely
  • 1 cup sugar, extra, put in small bowl to roll cookie in before baking

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • 2 combine softened butter, sugar, molasses and egg; beat well.
  • 3 mix dry ingredients and ginger; add to batter; mix well.
  • 4 chill batter for 1 hour.
  • 5 form into 1" balls; roll in sugar and place on greased cookie sheet 2" apart.
  • 6 bake for 8-10 minutes.
  • 7 makes 36 cookies.
