Oatmeal Toffee Squares

Total Time: 28 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 18 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 72
  • 4 1/2 cups oatmeal
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup margarine or 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (i use less usually)
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet)
  • 2/3 cup toasted chopped mixed nuts (w/o peanuts) (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 pre-heat oven to 450 degrees f.
  • 2 grease 15x10 jelly roll pan.
  • 3 combine first six ingredients and mix well.
  • 4 firmly press into greased pan.
  • 5 bake 18 minutes or so until bubbly.
  • 6 remove from oven and sprinkle evenly w/ choc chips.
  • 7 let stand for 10 minutes.
  • 8 spread chcolate over toffee.
  • 9 sprinkle w/ nuts.
  • 10 cool completely.
  • 11 cut into squares.
  • 12 store covered tightly.
