Ginger Creams

Total Time: 28 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 8 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon clove
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons milk (approx.)

Recipe

  • 1 for cookies: mix together sugar, water, molasses, shortening and egg.
  • 2 sift together remaining dry ingredients and add to molasses mixture.
  • 3 bake@ 400 for 8 minutes.
  • 4 cool~ frost with vanilla frosting.
  • 5 for frosting: mix together sugar and butter; beat in vanilla and enough milk to make it smooth and of spreading consistency.
