Gingerbread Bears

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 125 g unsalted butter
  • 100 g molasses
  • 4 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 325 g plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 3 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • supercook writing icing (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat the oven to 170 celsius.
  • 2 1. melt the sugar, butter and golden syrup in a saucepan.
  • 3 2. sieve all the dry ingredients together, then add your vanilla essence.
  • 4 3. slowly add the melted sugar, butter and syrup, then stir with a wooden spoon.
  • 5 4. knead the mix for 3-4 minutes.
  • 6 5. roll out the dough to about 5-7mm thickness, then use your choice of cutter to cut 'em out.
  • 7 6. place them in the oven on baking trays lined with greaseproof paper for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  • 8 7. remove from the oven and allow to cool.
  • 9 8. ice to your taste! :).
