Hot-chocolate Shortbread Sticks From Parenting Magazine

Ingredients

  • pam cooking spray
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup instant hot chocolate powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (4 1/4 ounce) package vanilla frosting

  • 1 1. preheat oven to 350. line a 9 x 13 pan with aluminum foil and spray with pam.
  • 2 2. combine flour, hot chocolate mix, and salt in medium bowl.
  • 3 3. beat butter sugar in another medium bowl with electric mixer on high until light and fluffy (about 3 min). add egg and beat well. slowly add flour mixture and continue until just combined, scraping the sides of the bowl.
  • 4 4. spread dough evenly in the prepared pan. bake until firm to touch about 30-35 minute transfer to wire rack to cool for 5 minute lift foil and cookies from pan and place on cutting board. slice in half length wise and cut each half crosswise in 3/4 in pieces.

Old Fashioned Molasses Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup melted shortening
  • 1 cup very hot water, with
  • 3 teaspoons baking soda
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar (mix in with flour)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 mix all ingredients in order given. let dough chill for 2 - 3 hours.
  • 2 roll out (not too thin) and cut out cookies.
  • 3 bake at 375°f for 10 - 12 minutes.

Gingersnaps

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

Recipe

  • 1 in a large mixing bowl combine about half of the flour, brown sugar, shortening, molasses, egg, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. beat with an electric mixer on medium to high speed till combined.
  • 2 beat or stir in remaining flour.
  • 3 shape dough into 1 inch balls.
  • 4 roll balls in the granulated sugar to coat. place balls 2 inches apart on an un-greased cookie sheet.
  • 5 bake in a 375 f oven for 8-10 minutes or till edges are set and tops are crackled. cool cookies on cookie sheet for 1 minute.
  • 6 transfer cookies to a wire rack and let cool.

Peanut Butter And Cocoa Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder, dutch process
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup chunky peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Recipe

  • 1 set racks in the upper and lower thirds of the oven, and preheat to 350.
  • 2 in a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, and baking soda and stir well to mix.
  • 3 sift onto a sheet of parchment or wax paper.
  • 4 use an elextric mixer on low speed to combine the butter and peanut butter.
  • 5 raise speed to medium, beat in sugars, then continue to beat for about a minute until light.
  • 6 beat in the egg and vanilla and continue beating until smooth.
  • 7 by hand, stir in the dry ingredients.
  • 8 divide the dough into four pieces and divide each into 10 pieces.
  • 9 roll each piece of dough into a ball and place it about 2 inches from any other on the prepared pans.
  • 10 press the back of a fork down on each cookie once, then press each again across the first marking.
  • 11 bake the cookies for about 15 minutes, until they are slightly puffed and no longer wet in appearance.

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn oil
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 180°c.
  • 2 stir in one ingredient at a time. sounds silly, but it is very important!
  • 3 bake for 40 minutes.

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 put molasses and ginger in a bowl, add melted butter and sugar, then egg and warm water; sift flour and baking soda and salt; work it into the other ingredients.
  • 2 roll out to 1/4 inch thick, and cut in rounds.
  • 3 place on parchment lined baking sheets.
  • 4 bake at 350f for 15 minutes.

Philadelphia Sugar Cookies

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350. beat cream cheese, butter, and sugar, vanilla. mix in flour. refrigerate several hours or overnight.
  • 2 roll dough into 1/4 inch thickness. cut desierd shapes; sprinkle with colored sugar. place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • 3 bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
