Hot-chocolate Shortbread Sticks From Parenting Magazine

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • pam cooking spray
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup instant hot chocolate powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (4 1/4 ounce) package vanilla frosting

Recipe

  • 1 1. preheat oven to 350. line a 9 x 13 pan with aluminum foil and spray with pam.
  • 2 2. combine flour, hot chocolate mix, and salt in medium bowl.
  • 3 3. beat butter sugar in another medium bowl with electric mixer on high until light and fluffy (about 3 min). add egg and beat well. slowly add flour mixture and continue until just combined, scraping the sides of the bowl.
  • 4 4. spread dough evenly in the prepared pan. bake until firm to touch about 30-35 minute transfer to wire rack to cool for 5 minute lift foil and cookies from pan and place on cutting board. slice in half length wise and cut each half crosswise in 3/4 in pieces.
  • 5 5. after they have cooled, dot with frosting and let dry before storing.
