Nonna's Biscotti

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon anise extract
  • 1 cup thin sliced almonds

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
  • 3 cream butter, sugar and flavoring. beat in eggs and egg yolks, one at a time. add the flour mixture and almonds.
  • 4 turn out on a floured board and knead gently until smooth.
  • 5 divide dough in half. shape each half into a roll, 1 1/2 inch in diameter.
  • 6 place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for 30 - 35 minutes.
  • 7 remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  • 8 cut diagonally into slices 2/3 inch wide.
  • 9 place back onto cookie sheet and toast in the oven for about 10 minutes for crisp cookies.
