Razz-ma-tazz Bars

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 16
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups chocolate chips, divided
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 cup seedless raspberry jam
  • 1/4 cup toasted sliced almonds

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350*.
  • 2 grease and sugar a 9x9-inch pan.
  • 3 melt butter in medium, microwaveable bowl on high power for 1 minute; stir.
  • 4 add 1 cup morsels; do not stir.
  • 5 beat eggs in large mixer bowl until foamy.
  • 6 add sugar; beat until light lemon colored, about 5 minutes.
  • 7 stir in morsel-butter mixture.
  • 8 add flour, salt and almond extract.
  • 9 mix at low speed until combined.
  • 10 spread 2/3 of batter into prepared pan.
  • 11 bake 15 to 17 minutes, or until light golden brown around edges.
  • 12 remove from oven to wire rack.
  • 13 spread jam over warm crust.
  • 14 stir remaining morsels into remaining batter.
  • 15 drop tablespoons of batter over jam.
  • 16 sprinkle with almonds.
  • 17 bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until edges are browned.
  • 18 cool completely in pan on wire rack.
  • 19 cut into bars.
