My Great Grandmother's Peanut Butter Cookies

Ingredients
- 2 cups shortening (crisco is best)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups peanut butter
- 4 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 375. (my oven runs a bit hot, so i put mine at 350.).
- 2 cream sugar, brown sugar and crisco until fluffy.
- 3 add eggs and beat well. 'beat in peanut butter, baking soda, vanilla and salt.
- 4 you'll have to stir in about 1/2 to 3/4 of the flour. do not use a mixer.this makes an extremely stiff dough you might have to mix in the remaining flour by hand.
- 5 shape dough into little 1- 1 1/2 inch diameter balls.
- 6 place on ungreased cookie sheet. use a fork and press down on the top of the balls to make a depression.
- 7 bake for 7-9 minutes or until edges are browned. wait a few seconds before transferring cookies to cooling rack or newspaper.
