Jam Thumbprints

Ingredients

- 3/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, separated
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup finely chopped pecans
- 1/3 cup strawberry preserves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Recipe
- 1 cream butter and sugar til fluffy (if you have a strong mixer you may start with softened butter).
- 2 add egg yolks, vanilla and salt and beat well.
- 3 gradually add flour and mix thoroughly.
- 4 lightly beat egg whites in a separate bowl (do not add in).
- 5 roll your dough into 3/4 inch balls and dip in egg whites and roll in your pecans.
- 6 place 1" apart on greased cookie sheet and mash down the centers with your thumbs.
- 7 bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes (my oven it's just a little more).
- 8 cool slightly and just before serving fill centers with preserves.
