Gingersnap Cookies

Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening or 1/2 cup cooking oil
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 cup sugar
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 375.
- 2 in a large bowl place about half of the flour.
- 3 add the brown sugar, shortening or oil, molasses, egg, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
- 4 beat with an electric mixer on medium to high speed till thoroughly combined. then beat or stir in the remaining flour.
- 5 shape the dough into 1-inch balls. roll the balls in sugar to coat.
- 6 place 2 inches apart on an un-greased cookie sheet.
- 7 bake for 8-10 minutes or till edges are set and tops are crackled. cool for one minute on cookie sheet. cool on a wire rack.
