Gingersnaps

Total Time: 22 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 12 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon clove
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup crystallized ginger
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup mild molasses
  • sugar

Recipe

  • 1 mix first six ingredients
  • 2 mix in crystalized ginger.
  • 3 beat brown sugar, shortening, and butter in large bowl until fluffy.
  • 4 add egg and molasses and beat until blended.
  • 5 add flour mixture until just blended then cover and cool for one hour.
  • 6 heat oven to 350 and roll in 1 1/4 inch balls and roll in sugar.
  • 7 bake until cracked for 12 minutes.
