Old Farmer's Almanac Butterscotch Icebox Cookies

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/4 cups brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup nuts, chopped
Recipe
- 1 cream together butter and brown sugar until light.
- 2 add egg and vanilla, and mix well.
- 3 stir together flour, salt, and baking powder and add to sugar-egg-butter mix, mixing well. stir in nuts.
- 4 form dough into a 2-inch-diameter log and wrap in foil or waxed paper. chill for 12 to 24 hours.
- 5 slice and bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 400 degrees f for 8 to 10 minutes.
