Mom's Lemon Squares

Ingredients

• 1 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• salt
• 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
• 1 egg, fill up cup with milk to make 1 cup
• 1/2 teaspoon lemon flavoring
• 1 cup sugar
• 3 tablespoons cornstarch
• 1 egg
• 1 cup milk
• salt
• 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon flavoring

Recipe

• 1 base: sift together sugar, flour, baking powder and salt. add butter and work with fingers until crumbly mixture forms.
• 2 mix together egg, milk and lemon flavoring.
• 3 add to flour mixture.
• 4 press in 8-inch well greased pan.
• 5 filling:.
• 6 mix together all ingredients. pour over base.
• 7 bake in 350f oven for 20-25 minutes or until top is beginning to turn slightly brown.
