Mom's Soft Ginger Cookies

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening or 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon clove
Recipe
- 1 cream the sugar and shortening or butter together.
- 2 add in the molasses and egg and beat until well blended.
- 3 separately, mix together the dry ingredients.
- 4 add the flour mixture slowly into the wet ingredients.
- 5 use a teaspoon to drop small balls on greasing baking sheets.
- 6 dip a fork in flour and lightly press down on the balls.
- 7 bake at 375 f or 190 c for 6-8 minutes, depending on the size of the cookies.
