Mom's Soft Ginger Cookies

Total Time: 23 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 8 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening or 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon clove

Recipe

  • 1 cream the sugar and shortening or butter together.
  • 2 add in the molasses and egg and beat until well blended.
  • 3 separately, mix together the dry ingredients.
  • 4 add the flour mixture slowly into the wet ingredients.
  • 5 use a teaspoon to drop small balls on greasing baking sheets.
  • 6 dip a fork in flour and lightly press down on the balls.
  • 7 bake at 375 f or 190 c for 6-8 minutes, depending on the size of the cookies.
