Raisin-vanilla-plaits

Ingredients
- 200 ml low-fat quark (firm yoghurt or cream cheese work as well)
- 65 ml milk
- 65 ml oil (you might be able to sub some apple sauce for it, but i havent tried that)
- 50 g sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 600 ml flour
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 50 g raisins
- 1 egg , plus 1 tbs milk for glazing
Recipe
- 1 preheat the oven to 180°c (350°f).
- 2 in a big bowl combine oil, low-fat quark, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt.
- 3 in a second bowl combine flour and baking powder and add to the wet ingredients. knead into a smooth dough.
- 4 incorporate the raisins (or chocolate chips or cranberries) and divide dough into four equal portions.
- 5 divide each portion into three equal portions again and roll each of these out into long coils (about fingerthick or slightly thinner).
- 6 take three of the coils and braid into a plait.
- 7 place plaits on a paper-lined baking sheet and brush with the glaze.
- 8 bake for 20-25 minutes until lightly browned.
