No Bake Chocolate Cookies

Total Time: 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 cups quick-cooking oatmeal

Recipe

  • 1 bring first 7 ingredients to a rolling boil.
  • 2 cook for 3 minutes.
  • 3 remove from heat.
  • 4 add quick cooking oatmeal.
  • 5 mix well and drop by teaspoon onto wax paper or parchment paper.
  • 6 let cool.
  • 7 note: after i have let them cool, i put them in an air tight container.
  • 8 regarding chef #219653’s review all i can say is no kidding back then she used butter; then when it was said butter wasn’t good for a person she changed it to margarine. she used to have to moisten the oats first (patting out the excess water) and then add them to the boiled ingredients. i believe it took about 40 – 45 minutes to do the recipe back then ( i can’t remember for sure) and i cannot ask her as she died in september 1979.
