Phyllis Bailey's Raisin Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 (13 -15 ounce) box raisins
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon flour
Recipe
- 1 mix together the egg and the milk and blend this together with the rest of the cookie ingredients. chill the dough overnight.
- 2 the next day: combine the raisins, sugar, water and flour in a saucepan and cook until thick. remove from heat and allow to cool.
- 3 when ready to use the dough, roll out until about 1/8th inch thick.
- 4 cut with 2 1/2 inch round cutter. place a teaspoon of the raisin mixture in the center of the circle and cover with another circle. press the edges together with a fork.
- 5 bake at 425 degrees for 6-10 minutes.
